Carbon dioxide gas shielded welding

Carbon dioxide gas shielded welding is a high-efficiency, low-cost welding method, referred to as CO₂ gas shielded welding. Its basic principle is: using welding wire and welded parts as two electrodes to generate an arc, using the heat of the arc to melt the metal, and using CO₂ gas as a shielding gas to protect the arc and the molten pool, so as to obtain a good welding joint. This welding method has the characteristics of open arc, no slag, good welding quality, high welding productivity, and the ability to perform all-position welding, and the welding cost is lower than that of consumable argon arc welding.

Main components
The carbon dioxide gas shielded semi-automatic welding machine is mainly composed of the following parts:

Welding power supply: Provides the electrical energy required for welding.
Control device: Mainly electrical control, installed in the welding machine cabinet and on the control panel, the functions include controlling the start and stop of welding, adjusting the arc voltage and welding current, controlling and adjusting the arc current and arc voltage, and checking the gas delivery and wire feeding before welding.
Wire feeder: The task is to deliver the welding wire in the wire reel to the outlet of the welding gun.
Welding gun: Its function is to output CO₂ gas and conductive welding wire.
Gas supply system: Its function is to convert the CO₂ liquid in the CO₂ liquid cylinder into gas, enter the pipeline after decompression, and shoot out from the nozzle at a certain flow rate.
Advantages and disadvantages analysis
Advantages
High productivity: high current density, concentrated arc heat, high welding wire melting rate, much greater than arc welding.
Low cost: CO₂ gas has a wide source, mostly as a by-product of breweries and chemical plants, and is cheap, its cost is only 4% - 5% of arc welding.
