Types and uses of welding rods

1. Adjustment of welding current. The currents for overhead welding, vertical welding and horizontal welding are different.

 

2. Control of the rod speed. The rod running speed must be stable and uniform.

 

3. Control of arc length. The basic method is to tilt the rod backward 70-80 degrees. The arc distance is the diameter of the rod. The main thing is to keep your hands steady and not shake. After the rod is ignited, pay attention to the distance between the front point of the rod and the welded body, which is as large as the match head. Move evenly in circles along the welded seam. In this way, the weld pattern can be fish-scale-like, beautiful and strong. There are three ways to classify welding rods: classification by the purpose of the welding rod, classification by the main chemical composition of the coating, and classification by the characteristics of the slag after the coating is melted.

 

According to the purpose of the welding rod, the welding rod can be divided into: structural steel welding rod, heat-resistant steel welding rod , stainless steel welding rods, cladding welding rods, low-temperature steel welding rods, cast iron welding rods, nickel and nickel alloy welding rods, copper and copper alloy welding rods, aluminum and aluminum alloy welding rods and special purpose welding rods.

 

If classified according to the main chemical composition of the electrode coating, the welding rods can be divided into: titanium oxide type welding rods, titanium calcium oxide type welding rods, ilmenite type welding rods, iron oxide type welding rods, cellulose type welding rods, low hydrogen type welding rods, graphite type welding rods and base type welding rods.

 

If classified according to the characteristics of the slag after the electrode coating is melted, the welding rods can be divided into acidic welding rods and alkaline welding rods. The main components of the acidic electrode coating are acidic oxides, such as silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, ferric oxide, etc. The main components of the alkaline electrode coating are alkaline oxides, such as marble, fluorite, etc.
